In this Adobe Photoshop Tutorial you will learn how to create custom smilies that can be used for your website, forum or blog. The final result will look similar to this:
Step 1 - Open a new file with 19 x 19. Choose Transparent for Background contents
Step 2 - Choose zoom tool 
and use it until you get the maximum size
Step 3 - Create a new layer from Layer > New Layer
Step 4 - Choose Pencil tool and set the Brush Size to 19
set Foreground Color to Black (#000000)
Draw this shape ( just put the + symbol on the center and click the left click )
Step 5 - Create a new layer from layer — new layer, repeat the last step but before doing this set the foreground color to #0FF300. Change the brush size to 17.
Step 6 - Right click on the last layer we made choose blending options. Select gradient overlay with these settings:
Step 7 - Create a new layer from layer — new layer.
Now we can draw the face ( sad or happy, it is your choice )
Notes: Draw with black color with 1 for brush size
Step 8 - Now Save Your Smiley With save–save as
Use .gif extension
I have included a copy of the PSD file in case you got stuck, or just wanted to look at it step by step again.
